Retail Shop & Café

We are situated in the old Hassop Railway station, built in 1863 by Edward Walters to serve the Devonshires at Chatsworth. The old railway line, part of which now forms the Monsal Trail, ran from London to Manchester and was closed in 1968. We have been operating from this site since 1988. Our online bookstore was launched in 1997.

The Monsal Trail is a footpath which runs from just east of Bakewell station to Blackwell Mill, a few miles downstream of Buxton on the river Wye.
